Malcolm and Tonya congratulated Variety WA Executive Director Michael Pailthorpe and Estelle Hajigabriel at their annual Xmas party held at the Claremont Showgrounds. The party is for sick, disadvantaged and special needs children of WA, and their families, and includes rides, a circus and gifts from Santa.

United Way Western Australia celebrated Malcolm's unwavering dedication to and leadership within a large number of charitable causes by presenting him with the honour of "Philanthropist of the Year".
