To Apply for Funding

Eligibility

The McCusker Charitable Foundation will consider applications from all organisations and individuals however, priority will be given to:

  • Organisations meeting the Foundation’s key objectives.
  • Organisations having income tax charity endorsement from the Australian Taxation Office.
  • Organisations with Deductible Gift Recipient status.

All decisions are made at the complete discretion of the Trustees. Reasons for rejection of proposals will not necessarily be given.

Geography

The McCusker Charitable Foundation will accept applications from all states and territories of Australia. However, priority will be given to applications for the support of projects conducted by qualified organisations within Western Australia for the benefit of Western Australians.

Timing

Applications will be accepted at any time of the year. However, funding allocations will usually be made in June and December.

How to Apply for Funding

Please send an email letter of intent to the Foundation’s Administrator Mrs Tonya McCusker (tonya@mccuskercharitable.com.au) outlining in 250 words or less:

  • Your project.
  • How it meets the Foundation’s objectives.
  • Who will benefit from the project.
  • The amount of funding sought and the reasons for it.
  • A proposed draft budget.
  • Your contact details.

The Administrator will contact you within 2 weeks if a more comprehensive grant application form is needed.

Please note that the McCusker Charitable Foundation receives hundreds of requests each year and it is impossible for all to receive funding.

Projects that will not be funded or that will be viewed less favourably include:

  • Projects that discriminate on the basis of race, gender or religion.
  • Travel outside Australia.
  • Private tuition fees.
  • Projects that overlap or duplicate projects that are already being supported by the McCusker Charitable Foundation.
  • Projects that should be funded by the Government or other relevant bodies.

McCusker Charitable Foundation supports Indigenous Scholarships

In 2009 Trustee Professor James Edelman met with Mr Richard Potok from the Charlie Perkins Trust. The Charlie Perkins Trust was established in 2002 in memory of the late Dr Charlie Perkins AO, to assist indigenous children in the areas of health and education. The McCusker Foundation will contribute funds towards 2 new annual postgraduate shcolarships that will allow talented indigenous Australians to study at the University of Oxford for up to 3 years (http://www.perkinstrust.com.au/scholarships).

McCusker Charitable Foundation supports Institute for Immunology and Infectious Diseases

Tonya and Malcolm McCusker thoroughly enjoyed their tour over the new Institute for Immunology and Infectious Diseases at Murdoch University. Hosted by Professor John Yovich AM Vice Chancellor and President of Murdoch University, the McCuskers had the opportunity to view firsthand, this state of the art building which will be the new home of cutting edge research into infectious diseases.

McCusker Charitable Foundation Supports Make A Wish Foundation

In October, Malcolm, Carolyn, Alan and Tonya spent a memorable evening at the Make a Wish Ball where they were recognised as Gold Supporters of the organisation. The Ball raised significant funds that would be used to grant the wishes of terminally ill young patients. Hosted at the Hyatt Hotel Perth, guests had the opportunity to learn more about Make A Wish and the wonderful work it is doing in caring for young patients and their families.
