To Apply for Funding

Eligibility

The McCusker Charitable Foundation will only consider applications from the following organisations and individuals:

  • Organisations meeting the Foundation’s key objectives.
  • Organisations having income tax charity endorsement from the Australian Taxation Office.
  • Organisations with Deductible Gift Recipient status.

All decisions are made at the complete discretion of the Trustees. Reasons for rejection of proposals will not necessarily be given.

Key Objectives

The McCusker Charitable Foundation will consider applications for assistance for projects related to:

  • Medical research and advancement of medical science.
  • Care, welfare and education of young people.
  • Promotion of high achievement and excellence.
  • Support for the aged and infirm.
  • Arts and environment.
  • The Trustees are committed to encouraging greater philanthropy, volunteering and giving throughout Australia at all levels.

Geography

The McCusker Charitable Foundation will accept applications from all states and territories of Australia for projects conducted within Australia. However, priority will be given to applications for the support of projects conducted by qualified organisations within Western Australia for the benefit of Western Australians.

Timing

Applications will be accepted at anytime of the year. However, funding allocations will usually be made in April, June, September and December.

How to Apply for Funding

Please send an email letter of intent to the Foundation’s Administrator Mrs Tonya McCusker (tonya@mccuskercharitable.com.au) outlining in 250 words or less:

  • Your project.
  • How it meets the Foundation’s objectives.
  • Who will benefit from the project.
  • The amount of funding sought and the reasons for it.
  • A proposed draft budget.
  • Your contact details.

The Administrator will contact you within 2 weeks if a more comprehensive grant application form is needed.

Please note that the McCusker Charitable Foundation receives hundreds of requests each year and it is impossible for all to receive funding.

Please ensure your project meets the specified criteria and objectives before applying.

Projects that will not be funded include:

  • Projects that discriminate on the basis of race, gender or religion.
  • Travel outside Australia.
  • Private tuition fees.
  • Projects that overlap or duplicate projects that are already being supported by the McCusker Charitable Foundation.
  • Projects that should be funded by the Government or other relevant bodies.
  • Conferences.
  • Sponsorship of individuals.

MCF Trustees confirm donations of more than $4,000,000 to more than 60 charitable bodies as at December of the 2010-2011 financial year

MCF Trustees Malcolm, Carolyn, James and Tonya met on the 22nd December for their mid year review. All Trustees were delighted to confirm donations exceeding $4 million dollars to more than 60 organisations. It was resolved that the MCF will not take on any more arts sponsorships for the remaining 6 months of this financial year as it is currently supporting more than a dozen arts bodies, but will continue to focus on its primary objective of medical research.

Cystic Fibrosis WA

CFWA has a vision of a world where 'lives are unaffected by cystic fibrosis' and they hope to achieve this by encouraging further research in the field. The McCusker Charitable Foundation has agreed to support a 'PhD Top Up Scholarship' to be awarded to a student here in WA to undertake further investigation in areas related to CF.
